Up and running in three steps

Windows server app at home, app on your device

1
Prepare your home network

A SAT>IP device or compatible FRITZ!Box runs on your LAN. For remote access: UPnP or port mapping and ideally DynDNS.

  • SAT>IP server with a fixed IP (or DHCP reservation in the router)
  • Optional: UPnP / allow your router to open ports
  • For access from outside: DynDNS name on the router
2
Set up the Windows server app

Extract the ZIP from the download page or get the server app via the Microsoft Store and start it. First launch walks you through UPnP, HTTP/HTTPS and credentials.

  • UPnP recommended (ports are closed again when the app exits)
  • HTTPS for remote use · HTTP for local / Android TV only
  • Import M3U, assign channels, save the list
3
Connect the app

In app settings enter server (DynDNS or LAN IP), port, username and password.

  • Unique client ID per device
  • With HTTPS: scan the certificate QR code from the server once
  • Optional: "Data Saver" when on mobile data (1 Mbit/s max)

  1. Enable “Advanced” view
  2. Home Network → Network → Network Settings → Transmit status information via UPnP
  3. Internet → Permit Access → Windows PC → Allow independent port sharing for this device

Other routers: look for “UPnP”. Details: giga.de – UPnP

For use outside the home network enable SSL and use a DynDNS name. On first SSL start the server creates a certificate (DDNS name + certificate password). That password is not the same as the app login password.

DynDNS z. B. über ddns.de · FRITZ!Box-Anleitung: heimnetz.de

Open the wrench icon → Server = DynDNS or local PC IP. Port and HTTPS toggle must match the server settings. Username and password as configured under Basic Auth.

The certificate does not change and is valid for all users: open “Certificate QR-Code” on the server, tap “Scan Certificate” in the app and scan the QR code.

SAT>IP anywhere: Your TV, Transcended.

With SAT>IP anywhere, you can extend the reach of your local SAT>IP server or AVM DVB-C router. The software allows you to receive your satellite television on various devices, regardless of your current location. Essentially the modern version of the legendary Slingbox.
The system is based on a C# server application, which can be downloaded here. This application communicates with your existing SAT>IP hardware and transcodes the live satellite stream in real time. This optimizes the signal for a stable transmission over the internet. The server architecture is specifically designed to ensure fast switching times between channels and includes an Electronic Program Guide (EPG) for easy navigation.
For playback, a dedicated Android client application is available, designed for smartphones, tablets, Android (TV), and Fire TV. It enables europe-wide access to your home satellite channels via an active internet connection.

FAQs

Everything you need to know about streaming with Sat>IP anywhere.

Yes, absolutely! Unlike the classic SAT>IP standard—which demands high bandwidth and was designed exclusively for local home networks (LAN/Wi-Fi)—Sat>IP anywhere is engineered specifically for remote access. Our server backend transcodes the live TV signal in real time. This allows you to stream your home television seamlessly and reliably wherever you are, whether you are connected via 4G/5G cellular networks or a public Wi-Fi hotspot.

Most residential internet connections change their IP address regularly. To ensure seamless remote access, the app natively supports Dynamic DNS (DDNS / DynDNS) services like MyFRITZ!, No-IP, or DuckDNS. When setting up a DDNS domain, the server software automatically generates a self-signed security certificate, which you can easily import to your mobile device by simply scanning a QR code.

No. A raw HD stream easily consumes 10 to 15 Mbps, which would drain your mobile data cap in a matter of minutes. However, the Sat>IP anywhere server uses smart hardware transcoding to compress the video in real-time to a fraction of that size—without sacrificing crystal-clear picture quality. This allows you to stream hours of live TV on the go while keeping your mobile data usage to an absolute minimum.

1. The TV Source: We support standard SAT>IP network tuners (for DVB-S(2) like the Telestar DIGIBIT TWIN, Octopus NET, or Kathrein EXIP) as well as DVB-C via IP sources (Fritz!Box Cable). 2. The Server: A Windows PC or home server on your network running the Sat>IP anywhere server software to prepare and transcode these streams for remote access. The Linux variant is in development.

No. WireGuard, Tailscale, and OpenVPN tunnels are of course supported. Alternatively, you can use an encrypted SSL connection. That gives you strong security with almost no setup so you can connect from anywhere. SSL is simple to enable. The server generates the certificate automatically; you import it in the app by scanning a QR code.
